We’ve been there too, and that’s exactly why we started using Hot Plate.

Because while ordering ahead isn’t a new idea, the way Hot Plate makes it work for small-batch baking? It just feels easier. Order ahead, stress less.

In this post, I’ll walk you through how it works, what you can expect, and why it might just become your favorite way to shop with us.

What Is Hot Plate?

Hot Plate is our online ordering platform. Instead of showing up and hoping your favorites are still there, you can scroll the menu, choose exactly what you want, and order it ahead of time.

How It Works (Simple, We Promise)

Here’s the rhythm:

  • You’ll get a text when each drop opens
  • A reminder before ordering closes
  • And a pickup-day reminder if you’ve placed an order

We open a “bake drop” about a week before pickup. If you’re on our text list, you’ll get a notification when it goes live (think of it as your early nudge before things start selling out).

From there you can review our menu, place your order and choose your pickup time.

Pre-orders close about 2 days before pickup—because sourdough (and a lot of what we make) takes time, and we bake everything fresh just for you.

The biggest tip? Order early if you have your eye on something specific, as quantities are limited.

What You’ll Find on Hot Plate

You’ll see all your Cookie Cart favorites—cookies, scones, sourdough—but also:

  • Larger quantity options (like 2 or 3-packs of scones)
  • Specialty items like bagels and English muffins
  • Seasonal extras and holiday drops (cookie boxes, dinner rolls, and more)

t’s a little like getting first pick before the market even opens.

Hot Plate takes makes things easy.

It sends you a text when a drop opens, reminds you before it closes, and even nudges you on pickup day so nothing gets left behind.

Are There Fees?

There is a small fee per order (similar to other online platforms like Uber or DoorDash), and taxes of course apply.

But for being able to order exactly what you want, skip the stress, and know it’ll be waiting for you—it’s a trade most people are happy to make.

Payment Options

All orders are paid ahead through Hot Plate.

You can use:

  • Credit or debit card
  • Apple Pay
  • Or Venmo (for returning customers, you’ll see this option at checkout)

Picking Up Your Order

When:
You’ll select your pickup date and time at checkout. Pickup is typically Saturday or Sunday between 9 am and 1 pm, and we’re working to expand those windows soon. Orders can also be picked up at the Milton Farmers Market.

Where:
We’re in Crabapple, just behind Cagle Castle/Etris Road. After you order, you’ll get all the details. Park on the grass or in the driveway.

What if you forget?

You won’t 😉 Hot Plate sends a text reminder the day of pickup. And if you’re running late, just let us know; we’re always happy to work with you when we can.

A Quick Note on Cancellations

We totally understand that plans can change.

Because everything is made in small batches just for you, we’re unable to offer cancellations within 48 hours of pickup. If something comes up before then, just reach out—we’re happy to help however we can.
